 4 common tread patterns are:

  • C-Lug- OEM tread for Bobcat, same as the staggered block but with a notch cut out in it too make it look like a C.
  • Staggered Block- Popular tread pattern that gives you a very smooth ride and very minimal ground disturbance.
  • Straight Bar-Extremely aggressive tread pattern for use in wet, muddy application where you need maximum traction.
  • Multi Bar- Smoother ride than the Straight Bar, but with increased traction from a Staggered Block or C-Lug tread pattern.

Bobcat OEM cleat style calls for a smooth ride, unlike some of the other brands.

Aftermarket Undercarraige Parts available for Bobcat T Series machine are readily available.  There are many aspects to look for.  Some of the most important ones are:

  • Hardened Steel
  • Sealed Bearings
  • OEM Specs
  • Korean Made

Some aftermarket companies sell a cheap product that is not hardened steel.  This is a design that is very cheap at first, but will have an extremely high wear rate and cause downtime.  Pretty much, you get what you pay for with those parts. The hardened steel is imperative due to the extreme conditions that these machines are sometimes used in and can withstand harsh abuse.

If the bearing in rollers and idlers are not sealed, dirt and grime can cause failure.  It is important to get an entire sealed unit to make sure your undercarriage is maintenance free and will not fail.

Bobcat rollers, idlers, and sprockets that are not made to OEM specs will waste a lot of money and time.  Many companies sell cheap imitation copies that are made in mass production without much attention to spec.  Just think of the mess you will be in when trying to install and it doesn't fit!

So make sure you research your purchase well when buying aftermarket Bobcat skidsteer undercarriage parts.  With so many factories in China producing inferior products, it's worth paying for a quality product without paying the extravagent amount from the dealer.
